News from Gananoque Today website
Gananoque Today .ca is copying the bears and going into winter hibernation. The web site will still be updated regularly and all articles and pictures that are emailed to us will be considered for posting.
We encourage local residents to submit articles, with pictures, for us to consider. The topic can be anything of interest to our local readership. Please send email submissions to either firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Presently our site gets over 13,000 visits per month which represents a healthy and loyal readership of residents in Gananoque and the 1000 Island area. As well we get visitors who come to the site because of a previous personal history or they come here annually during the summer months.
Sports events, council meetings, coming events, police reports, death notices and obituaries and other happenings that we receive via email, will still be posted each week. Submitted articles will also be posted after editorial approval.
We will not be covering events that require a reporter during this period. Our hibernation starts December 1 and lasts until the Spring of 2013 much like many other local enterprises that rely on tourists and summer trade.
Most of the advertisers on the web site were complimentary over the past number of months. However, their financial support will be necessary for Gananoque Today to continue in the spring 2013. If the local corporate and business community cannot support this well read product we will be forced to shut down the site. We will still be accepting and posting advertising during the hibernation period. (Please see the web site for advertising information.)
Thanks to all our present contributors. We have really appreciated your input and look forward to many more submissions. This same appreciation is conveyed to those advertisers who have been with us since the beginning and last but certainly not least, our reporting journalists – Joanne, Emma and Rosanne. Thank you.
