Local businessman Don Matthews, owner of Sleepy Hollow Bed and Breakfast, proposed an idea to the Gananoque Business Improvement Area which could lead to increased business in the downtown core.
In his proposal, Matthews said he would like to see the BIA subsidize the businesses that remained open until 8 p.m. in July and August only. This could be a $10 per hour subsidy paid so that stores could have someone on staff for those two to three hours beyond their normal closing time.
