Scott Woods and his band are bringing their show to Dreams in Motion in September.
“We’ve been to Brockville and Kingston before, but this is our first time in Gananoque,” said Woods.
The show entitled “All Aboard!” will take audience members on a cross-country train themed trip starting in British Columbia all the way to the Maritime provinces.
“It’s a very patriotic show,” said Woods of the old time music. “If people remember the Don Messer, they will know what kind of variety show we are.”
The show will feature traditional country music, country gospel, Western swing, a little jazz and a classical piece.
“This show will feature some tricks,” said Woods.
The tricks he refers to is his now famous front flip he completes while continuously playing the fiddle.
“The headline out east was The Flippin’ Fiddler and it’s stuck,” Woods said.
Woods began playing the fiddle at age four and as the youngest of four, he continued the family trend and joined the band.
“I played whatever was needed,” he said. “My dad started pushing me to front the band in the 80’s. I didn’t like it at the time.”
The trip through Ontario and to the Maritimes marks the second leg of the tour.
“We have already been out West and wrapped that up in the middle of June,” he said. “Now we will be doing 19 shows in 21 days.”
Woods says the show is filled with humour, costumes and silly stories.
“It’s always moving,” he said. “People are surprised at the end of the show. They say they weren’t sure if they will enjoy it and end up having a great time. It’s more about family entertainment.”
