At the perfect time to chase away mid-winter gloom, Guy Few on trumpet and piano and Nadina Mackie Jackson on bassoon will be performing at the Firehall Theatre in Gananoque on Sunday, February 17, at 2:00 pm, in a concert presented by the Gananoque Concert Association.
Guy & Nadina have been touring since they were teenagers, performing across Canada and around the world as soloists, chamber musicians and orchestral players. Their concert, “Carnet de Voyages” (“The Travel Book”) is presented as “a storyteller’s recital”, and will be a musical adventure accompanied by personal and comedic stories of their touring experiences.
Gananoque audience members will remember Guy and Nadina as virtuoso performers, amusing speakers and splendidly adventurous fashionistas. “Few and Jackson play with polished tone, immaculate intonation and infectious high spirits; it’s obvious they’re having a blast” (allmusic.com).
The small and intimate Firehall Theatre is the perfect venue for Guy & Nadina, where they can establish a close rapport with their audiences with their musical artistry and engaging personalities.
Another popular feature of Gananoque Concert Association presentations is the delicious reception to be enjoyed not just at intermission, but also after the performance, when the artists emerge to mingle and talk with their audience.
Tickets for Guy & Nadina are $25, and student tickets are $12, both plus HST and a $1 ticketing charge. They are available from the Box Office of the Thousand Islands Playhouse at 613-382-7020. Concerts are at the Firehall Theatre, corner of South and Charles Streets in Gananoque. Visit www.concertgananoque.ca for information about the full season.
The Gananoque Concert Association is a not-for-profit organization, run by a volunteer board of directors, and is celebrating its 30th year of bringing excellent live music to the Thousand Islands Area.
