Ice Rocks Live – Pond Hockey & World Pond Curling in Gananoque, Feb. 2011

Gananoque will play host to the new 1000 Islands Pond Hockey and World Pond Curling Championships on the St. Lawrence River February 4-6, 2011.

The 1000 Islands Pond Hockey Championship is set to drop starting at 5pm on February 4th. With night games played under the lights scheduled in a 4 on 4 format, players will experience the true tradition as nets are 6 feet in length and 10 inches in height making it a fantastic game. No goalies are allowed and a maximum of 6 players are allowed per team.
There are four divisions from a Men’s and Women’s Open, Men’s Master and a new Men’s 50+ division. Winners will get bragging rights a “by” into the Beaver Cup Pond Hockey Tournament in Ottawa during Winterlude later in February.
Register before January 5th and the fee is only $325/team.

Get your curling team together for your chance to become the World Pond Curling Champions.
Offering two divisions, and Open and Mixed Division, teams of four will use standard curling rules on natures ice.

Other events throughout the weekend include a Celebrity Challenge, Oval Sprint Contest, Beer Tent, Wagon Rides, Gigantic Christmas Tree Campfire & much more!

Both events kick off February 4th and run until February 6th at the Gananoque Municipal Marina.
Teams will be gathering from all over the nation and a team from the United States has already registered as well.
The Gananoque Inn & Spa will play host as the official headquarters for these events.
